There’s one thing I dislike more than not receiving a gift at all and that is receiving a gift for the sake of it. One where clearly no effort was made. I know that sounds as if I am ungrateful but if you understand Gary Chapman’s 5 Love Languages and you knew that one of my stronger love languages is that of “RECEIVING GIFTS”, this will resonate with you.

If your partner, friend, colleague or family member’s strongest love language is also the language of receiving gifts, you will understand how important it is to get them a gift, whether it’s a special occasion or not. Trust me, if you forget to get them a gift for their birthday, Christmas or any other occasion, they will be VERY, VERY disappointed and we would not want that now, would we?

It’s not about how expensive the gift is, but about the effort that was made to get the gift.  Did you listen to their cues or general conversations about their interests and likes?
