From the time I was a little girl up to this very point in life where I am  a wife and a mother, music has always been my love. There’s a song for every season, for every reason. I’ve had various playlists over the years to walk me through times of joy and sorrow. In this post, I want to share My Top 20 Motivational Songs; hopefully, if you are looking for some inspiration, these songs will uplift your spirits too.

Being such a music lover that I am, it was really difficult to narrow the list down to 20, I am also sure if I had to write this list a week from now, there could be some changes as I guess this is also mood dependent, well for me anyway.

Sit back, get yourself your favourite beverage and relax.  Let me know what you think about this list in the comments below.

1. Feelin’ so Good – J-Lo

I love listening to this song in the mornings. I find the lyrics as well as the music so uplifting. It’s that kick start you sometimes need on a Monday morning…or any other day of the week. It makes me wanna dance and certainly puts a smile on my face, making me feel I can overcome any challenge that comes my way

2.  The Climb – Miley Cyrus

This song has helped me through tough times, reminding me that life will always present itself with challenges. It’s about perseverance. Your ability to rise again is what makes you stronger.

3.  Fight Song – Rachel Platten

This song helped and still does inspire me through stressful times. Sometimes, when it feels like the whole world is against you, this song just motivates to not give up, no matter what!

4.  Stronger – Kelly Clarkson

This is a fantastic song to listen to after a break up! It makes you feel stronger, looking at the pain as a lesson learned. Instead of beating yourself up about the breakup, this song makes you feel determined – that nothing or no one is gonna get in your way.

5.  Don’t Worry be Happy – Bobby McFerrin

An oldie, but always a hit at a party. Just a feel-good song that uplifts anyone’s spirits.

6.  I will survive- Diana Ross

Definitely a song you should listen to after a break up. It also is great for Karaoke! Always a hit a party and even after all these years, still attracts people to the dancefloor

7.  What a Feeling – Irene Cara

Another feel-good song about believing in your dreams. I’m not sure what it is exactly about this song and it’s music…I just love the feeling it creates.

8.  Lose yourself – Eminem

An inspiring song about seizing the moment, you only have one shot, take risks, live in the moment – grab an opportunity that comes your way.

9.  Just the Way You Are – Bruno Mars

I love this song because if reminds me of my husband. Just before we began dating, I listened to this song and wished that someday someone will play this song for me. That wish was soon realised shortly after I met my husband and he indeed played it for me time and time again, each time making me smile so much that my cheeks hurt.

10.  It’s my life – Bon Jovi

This song to me, is about affirming my decisions and reminding myself that it is my life and that I must not just be alive but live life. It also makes me feel like I should not worry about what others say, it’s my life and I’ll live it the way I choose to.

11.  Sexy Bitch – David Guetta feat. Akon

This song reminds me of my best friend, who relocated to Canada. I just love the beat and every time I listen to it, I think of her and visualise her smiling because this song holds meaning to many conversations we’ve had, in our own weird and crazy ways

12.  Beautiful – Christina Aguilera

As the name suggests, I do think this song is so beautiful. No matter who puts you down, calls you names or says hurtful things to you, just remember that you’re beautiful and don’t allow others to dampen your spirit

13.  Try – Pink

This song is about not giving up after being hurt in love. Where there is love/desire, you’re bound to get hurt – when and if that does happen, just get up and try…try…try.

14.  You Gotta Be – Des Ree

Another feel-good song, inspiring you to be your best. You gotta be strong, you gotta be wise. Another song that gets me grooving in my car on the way to work.

15.  Not Afraid – Eminem

This song is about facing your demons when enough is enough. It’s about moving forward and not being afraid.

16.  Fuckin’ Perfect – Pink

This song resonates so much with me. Don’t allow your failures or bad experience to make you feel inferior.

17.  I’m Alive – Celine Dion

This is another song I love listening to when I am driving. It’s just a feel-good song. It also does remind me of my husband and that life only began when I met him

18.  Lal Dupatta – Mika Singh, Anupama Raag

I love the beat of this song; it is extremely soothing. Whenever I am feeling stressed or down, listening to this song always makes me feel better! I find it extremely theraputic. I also listen to it when I’m feeling good, it just makes me feel even better.

19.  Girl on Fire – Alicia Keys

This song reminds me that I am an individual and I stand my own ground. I love the beat; it motivates me every time I listen to it.

20.  Halo – Beyoncé

Another song that reminds me of my husband, I smile inside and out, every time I listen to it, knowing that I am surrounded by his embrace whenever we are together and even when we are apart – in distance but not by the heart.
