Hubby and I was pleasantly entertained by “A Beautiful Noise” this Sunday that passed. We spent the afternoon into the evening at the Rockwood Theatre in Pretoria East. Nope, it isn’t a new venue, it’s the same venue as what was previously known as the Barnyard Theatre.

About The Rockwood Theatre:

With over 15 years of experience with the Barnyard Theatre, owners Ann and Tom Muller decided to change the name to “Rockwood Theatre”. Like most businesses, there comes a time to evolve and in this case, that time is now. Ann and Tom over the years have gotten to know and understand the Pretoria East audience and in doing so, have made the necessary changes to bring you the best live entertainment.

One of the highlights is that on a Friday and Saturday night, after the show, the foyer area will turn into a dancefloor, with a DJ, so those of you would love to dance, make sure that you wear your dancing shoes!

There is also now a VIP area, which is elevated. There are comfy couches, chairs and cushions in this area, which is away from other patrons. There is also a private waiter allocated to the VIP section.

The Rockwood Theatre will stage their own shows that are produced and directed by the seasoned Andrew Webster. Andrew has approximately 25 years of experience from musical theatre to TV to film. Over the past 15 years, Andrew has been part of many Barnyard Theatre shows.

I must be honest in saying that I have never watched The Voice SA, so this was the first time that I had heard of or seen Vernon Barnard. I was impressed, highly so! His voice left a lump in my throat. At first I wondered if he was singing! That’s how beautiful his voice is! It will give you Goosebumps, the good kind. Amazing talent from the entire cast, if you appreciate good singing, you will enjoy this show. I also enjoyed the fact that it was a mixture of songs from the last decade or so, something old, something new, all songs to suit the entire family.   Before the show, I assumed that it’s going to be something for the over 30’s. I was very wrong! The children and teenagers at the tables around us, were standing on the chairs, clapping their hands and singing along!

Although I didn’t know anyone in the audience, I felt the venue to be very warm. Everyone was so comfortable, it felt like one big happy family. The finger foods were delicious. We ordered a pizza, which we also enjoyed. If you want to take your own food, you’re most welcome to. Drinks however, must be purchased from the bar. This was a Totally perfect way to spend our Sunday afternoon. If you are looking for good entertainment with friends, family and/or colleagues, you’ve got to visit The Rockwood Theatre. Well done to owners, Ann and Tom, it’s evident that you have achieved what you had in mind when the decision was made to make the changes. We enjoyed the more intimate feeling. I am sure other patrons will agree too. Change is indeed good…great actually, in this case!
