If you know me very well, then you are most likely to know that one of my weaknesses is STATIONERY – not just any stationery – I like the pretty, cute, even fluffy and unique stuff. When I was sent the STABILO BOSS ORIGINAL Pastel Range to review, I naturally obliged with pleasure. Stationery to me is like candy to a kid in a candy store. So, for me, back to work this year is kicking off with these beautiful and trendy pastels.
If you’re the type of person who loves highlighters, whether it’s for studying or you’re simply an avid reader or if you plain and simple, just love stationery, I think that you’re going to love these shades of pastel.
For me, they’re personally so much gentler on the eyes compared to the traditional neon highlighters…which I’ve used all my life. I can’t exactly explain what it is…call me weird if you must, but there’s just something so soothing about these pastel highlighters. Makes me think of marshmallows, cotton candy, milkshakes and all things kinda dreamy. Nothing wrong with that, right?
STABILO BOSS ORIGINAL Pastel Highlighters in Action
I tested it on printed material, as you will see below – it passed my smudge/smear test as the printed text in these notes didn’t smear or smudge at all.
In the image below, I tested the highlighters on ball pen print and it also didn’t smudge.
In both tests above, the highlighters did bleed a little – so if you turned the page over, you would see that slightly – usually at the end of wherever you highlighted, as you apply more pressure at the end of whatever you highlight…almost like a “full stop” motion. This was the only thing about the highlighter that I think can be improved.
I have no idea about the stats on the thickness of the paper I used to test is – both were different; one was the standard notebook and the other was a little thicker than normal paper as it was a training manual. I couldn’t find glossy paper at the time of this review to test it, so if you have done so, I’d love your feedback in the comments below.
Anti-Dry-Out technology
When I read that it you could leave it without a cap on for up to 4 hours and that it would not dry, I had to test this out – which was very challenging for me cos I am little OCD in this instance. Pens have caps for a reason, so I am not one to generally leave a pen without it’s cap…but I did…just for the purpose of this test.
Fortunately for me it, it passed this test too – although you could not tell that the cap was left open, I was more than happy to replace the cap.
The Verdict
Will I buy these? Of course, YES! I love them, it’s such a breath of fresh air after the neon’s I’ve been using all my life. I’m looking at them on my desk as I write this review and I can’t help but smile – yeah…I know…if you don’t love stationery, you’re so not gonna get this. But if this doesn’t seem Inscrutable to you…I know that you’ll be feeling this too.
So whether you’re going to get these for yourself or for your child who is still at school, I am confident that neither will be disappointed. You may just be setting the trend for their friends or your colleagues…all for the love of stationery.

Loving the Pink Blush.
Ohhh wow these are absolutely stunning! Funny you should mention candyfloss and marshmallows because when I saw these the first thing to come to my mind was the limited edition candyfloss and bubblegum marshmallows by Manhattan. I also go crazy over stationery sometimes I even have stationery that I whip out on special occasions only then I have the stationary that my twin boys can also use. I will have to agree with you that these subtle macaroon lookalike colours are more ideal for me than our traditional neons. That being said, before I bore the daylights out of you… I love the Touch of Turquoise 💙
Hahaa you didn’t bore me at all-glad to know this resonates with you too, good luck 🙂
I like Creamy Peach
Hi there, great post. Love the honesty especially about the slight bleed. Good to know you are putting your readers first before the brand. I love stabilo and their new range is amazing.
The colour I love is hint of mint.
Holding thumbs for the giveaway and thanks for a great blog.
Hi Leeann
Firstly, thank you for your detailed comment – I absolutely love when readers like yourself take the time to do this. Credibility is very important to me so I will always be honest in my Reviews. With these pastel colors being so damn gorgeous, the bleed is something that can be overlooked…well for me anyway 😉
Good luck!
In love with the pink blush.

Good luck Candice!
Pink Blush pretty please! I’ve always been a sucker for pink. This would be perfect for me to use while completing my NQF 4 Bus Ad course 😁😁
Good luck Nadia and all the best with completing your course 😊
Love these
Delightful range of colours , love to collect stationery and I certainly make great use of it in my spare time be it colouring, drawing, writing , doodling etc.
Pink Blush is my favourite
These can be used to colour as well – even with a paint brush – for the more creative. Good luck Anusha😊
I grew up with STABILO and they have really set the bar with pastel highlighters! My focus already goes to colour coding my notes and journal with them and all six are so pretty it’s hard to choose. But I would go with Lilac Haze as my favourite.
They have set the bar indeed 🙂 good luck Pravina 😊
I’m torn! The colours are all so beautiful!!!! But I’m going to go with A Hint of Mint because its making me want to eat some mint choc ice cream 🙂
That’s a good enough reason I think 😉 good luck 😊
Absolutely love stationery too!
As a law student I go through highlighters like they’re water.
Would love these pastel colours as they are much easier on the eye and offer you an alternative to the normal neon ones that every brand makes.
Well done Stabilo!:)
Absolutely love the touch of turquoise
Thanks for your entry and good luck Karisha 🍀
Pink blush
I totally get your love for stationery. I’m just the same. I love colored pens, highlighters, funky pens with glitter and pompoms lol. Recently purchased colored pencils and a bible coloring book ….Yes at 36 I still love to color.
My color choice would definitely be pink blush.
I also enjoy coloring so you’re not alone on that one 😉
