Is it just me, or do you feel like more and more people, particularly in South Africa, are favouring online shopping more these days? Well, I can’t really speak for everyone else, so let me share with you why I myself, am leaning toward online shopping more and at the same time, I am going to share Takealot Top Selling Toys this festive season.;

Time! Time! Time!

I just never seem to have enough of it. So, it makes sense that I do shopping online after all daily responsibilities are taken care of and of course, when my child is asleep. As a working mom, time is limited with my child and my husband, so I’d much rather spend quality time with them than going out shopping…whenever I do have a choice.

Safety or Paranoia?

I don’t know if I am being paranoid, but I feel it’s better safe than sorry. My husband hates shopping, so as a result, I will not go shopping on my own with Kayden – how do I look at things to buy whilst he is in his stroller?

I have been robbed whilst shopping on my own one day, when I just turned my head in the opposite direction and left my handbag unattended for a few seconds – lost everything, from bank cards, to camera to Identity document etc.

I have also seen too many videos on social media of children being kidnapped, so it doesn’t make me feel safe going shopping alone with my child.

Better Deals

Most of the time, I find better deals online. Perhaps it’s because online stores don’t have to pay rent and other overheads. I don’t know all the details but it does help me to know that I can find better deals online.

Stock Availability

With online shopping, you know whether something is available or not…immediately. You don’t have to drive around looking or calling stores for stock – this not only saves you time but also travelling costs.

Saves you Money

When you shop online, you know what you are looking for and you find it and you buy it. When I shop instore, I am often distracted by everything else along the way and by other shops and I often end up coming home with stuff I didn’t need or want and sometimes not even having the thing I went out to buy.

Don’t like crowds and long queues

I simply do not like nor enjoy people pushing me whilst shopping, nor those that stand in your way just to have a merry chat with someone they bumped into. Neither do I enjoy standing in long lines at the till, waiting to pay for my items.

There are a few places I shop online at, one of my favourites, if not my favourite, it Takealot.com. As it is the festive season and many of you are probably wondering what toys to buy to put under the tree. I thought it would be a good idea to share with you Takealot.com’s top selling toys for this festive season:

Julie-Anne Walsh, marketing manager at Takealot.com, says the list includes some newbies as well as nostalgic picks, “LEGO has been a favourite for generations of children and remains in our top ten today. A new contender is Hatchimals – a loveable ‘egg’ that hatched a new toy craze in 2016.”

  1. After losing hope in finding time to buy my favorite dress, I then gave in to the comfortability of online shopping. The delivery took longer than according to their delivery agreements. The dress fitted me like a glove. I was in seventh heaven.
Yes, the prices are sometimes cheaper, more availability and you get what you are looking for eg. size, color, etc.
I have no special store. If something meets my needs and the price is reasonable, then I will order it.

I love feedback, so please feel free to comment below...
