Have you ever wondered what the differences between eau de parfum, eau de toilette and eau de cologne are?  In the same order, they range from highest to lowest concentration of fragrance oils.

The higher the concentration, the longer lasting is the fragrance per application.   My personal favourite is eau de parfums.  I’ve noticed that they are generally more expensive too.

With Mother’s Day (14 May 2017) within a few days, Perfume in my opinion is something you can’t go wrong with.  With so many to choose from, it can be challenging.  I’d suggest that you look for hints to find out what the mother in your life prefers.

In no particular order, here’s a list of some of my favourites:

For Women:

  1. Allure by Chanel
  2. Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy by Givenchy
  3. La vie est belle by Lancôme
  4. Addict by Christian Dior
  5. Hypnotic Poison by Christian Dior
  6. Dior Addict by Christian Dior
  7. Ultraviolet by Paco Rabanne
  8. Elie Saab Le Parfum by Elie Saab
  9. Alien by Thierry Mugler
  10. Bonbon by Viktor & Rolf

Before you know it, it will soon be Father’s Day (18 June 2017), so here’s my list

For Men:

  1. Dunhill Desire Red by Alfred Dunhill
  2. Seduction in Black by Antonio Banderas
  3. Ultraviolet Man by Paco Rabanne
  4. Cool Water by Davidoff
  5. Lapidus by Ted Lapidus
  6. Tuscany Per Uomo by Aramis
  7. L’eau D’issey  Pour Homme by Issey Miyake
  8. Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier
  9. The One by Dolce & Gabbana
  10. Dior Homme Sport by Christian Dior

The scent of a man or woman lingers on. Some fragrances leave such a lasting positive impression that some people identify you by your scent before even seeing you.

I do recommend that you test some perfume on your skin, walk around for a few hours and if you like the smell thereafter, consider purchasing it. I am not a fan of the perfume testers that they give you at perfume counters, I personally find that they don’t find the same on our skin, or on mine at least and this is probably due to the acidity levels in our skin.

I also have experienced asking someone what they were wearing and bought the very same, only to find out later, that it didn’t smell the same on me. Once again, I will advise to test it on your own skin first before making a purchase.

If you’re finding it challenging to choose a perfume for someone else, you could get them a few samples and ask them to test it and let you know which they prefer – better this option than buying them something they may never want to use.

Too much of perfume can become an irritant to those around you and even to yourself. Perfume should be sprayed very subtly.

Perfume can be a turn on to many, so be explorative and find out which scent is most appealing to your partner as well as to yourself as perfume does make one feel sexy, if it is the right one 🙂

You don’t have to wait for a special occasion to buy someone perfume, why not spoil yourself, try something new, discover the power of scent.
